Healthgrades Names Mon Health Medical Center 5-Star Recipient for Women's Care
Posted Date: 12/7/2018
Mon Health Medical Center has been named a 5-star recipient for vaginal delivery, gynecologic procedures and hysterectomy by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. This 5-star rating indicates that the hospital's clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the procedure being evaluated.
"Mon Health Medical Center has long been recognized in the community for its comprehensive women's health programs," said Mon Health President and CEO David Goldberg. "These five-star awards from Healthgrades are the reflection of the strong commitment of our staff, gynecologists, obstetricians and surgeons to delivering clinical excellence and compassionate care. I want to thank them for their efforts to make highly regarded care happen. When you walk through our doors, you truly feel a difference."
"With more options than ever on where to receive care, consumers need to do their homework," said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Healthgrades. "Hospitals that received a 5-star rating have shown dedication and expertise, resulting in high-quality outcomes for patients."
To help consumers evaluate and compare hospital performance, Healthgrades analyzed all-payer state data for 15 states and the District of Columbia for years 2014 through 2016. Healthgrades found that there is a significant variation in hospital quality between those that have received 5-stars and those that have not. For example:
- From 2014 through 2016, patients having a vaginal delivery in hospitals with 5-stars have, on average, a 42.7 percent lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated by hospitals with 1-star.
- Additionally, from 2014-2016, patients having a hysterectomy in hospitals receiving 1-star are, on average, 2.6 times more likely to experience one or more complications than if they were treated in hospitals with 5-stars.
"This recognition is a testament to the staff of the Mon Health and their dedication to bringing high-quality, compassionate care to patients," said Mon Health Vice President of Patient Care Services Daphne Scordato. "Receiving these honors for women's care have become a pattern for Mon Health. patients and their families feel the difference at Mon Health and this is a reflection of that."
