Mon Health Medical Center Maintains a “Care Closet” for Patients and Families

Posted Date: 2/28/2024
Mon Health Medical Center goes above and beyond to make patient-centered care a top priority with its Care Closet.

Located near the Emergency Department, Mon Health Medical Center has a closet dedicated to providing new clothes to patients and their families in need. Organized by the Mon Health Medical Center Auxiliary and volunteers at the hospital, new clothes of all types and sizes are donated and given out as needed.

In a recent clothes fundraiser, over 500 articles of clothing were donated to the Care Closet, making a valuable impact in the lives of patients. All Mon Health Medical Center staff members have access to the Care Closet and can collect clothes for their patients or patient families in need of fresh clothes.

“The Care Closet is a great example of the work that the Auxiliary and volunteers do around the hospital to make a real difference,” said Jacob Mulder, Director of Volunteer Services and Guest Services. “We are always working to better serve our patients and with initiatives like this, and are proud to see the staff and community come together to donate items that will benefit the care we provide at Mon Health Medical Center.”

The Care Closet is accepting donations of brand new, plain, unbranded clothing items without any visible logos or labels for donation to our patients and visitors. Donations of men's and women's garments in all sizes, including undergarments, shirts, sweatpants, socks, and sweaters or hoodies are now being accepted.

Donations can be dropped off at the Mon Health Medical Center front desk. Questions about donations can be sent to MHMC.Volunteers@VandaliaHealth.org or by calling (304) 598-1233.
