Mon Health System Employees Appointed to West Virginia Leadership Agencies

Mon Health System is pleased to announce that two employees, Ashley Blair and Wilma Sternthal, have recently been appointed to West Virginia leadership agencies.
Ashley Blair, Risk Manager Clinical Safety at Mon Health System, has been named President-Elect of the West Virginia Society for Healthcare Risk Management (WVSHRM). WVSHRM initiatives focus on developing and implementing safe and effective patient care practices, the preservation of financial resources, and the maintenance of safe working environments.
Blair graduated from Waynesburg College with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked in the Critical Care Unit at Mon Health Medical Center as an RN and Clinical Manager for 15 years. She then went on to work as a Cardiology Data Abstractor before starting as a Clinical Risk Manager in March 2020. Blair has worked for Mon Health System for nearly 20 years. She is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM), Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), and President-Elect of the WVSHRM. Blair is married with two sons.
“I am proud to represent Mon Health System as the President-Elect of WVSHRM,” Blair said. “Developing these professional relationships statewide and nationally is a significant part of my career. This experience will provide a platform for me to promote safe patient care and advance the healthcare risk management profession.”
Wilma Sternthal, Executive Director at The Village at Heritage Point, has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the West Virginia Health Care Association (WVHCA). The WVHCA is the largest trade association representing nursing facilities and assisted living communities in West Virginia. Their mission is to advance the quality and professionalism that is essential to residents receiving long-term care services.
Sternthal has worked for The Village and The Suites at Heritage Point for 21 years. She graduated from Fairmont State University before receiving her master’s in Nursing Leadership and Administration from California University of Pennsylvania. She is a Nationally Certified Assisted Living Administrator, Nationally Certified Dementia Practitioner, a 2015 LeadingAge Leadership Academy graduate, Board Member for Mon Elders, Inc., past Board Member for Senior Mons, and has been a member of the WVHCA since 2015.
“I look forward to representing Mon Health System – The Village and Suites at Heritage Point on this board. Mon Health System has always represented excellence and I feel that WVHCA’s culture is very similar to our ICARE values of Integrity, Commitment, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence,” said Sternthal. “I believe we will work together to provide even better services to our residents and staff and find solutions to the industry challenges we are facing.”
