Nurse Oasis Room Opened at Mon Health Medical Center Provides Space for Nurses to Refocus and Reengergize
Posted Date: 5/6/2021
Mon Health Medical Center nurses now have a dedicated space to help unwind while at work. The Nurse Oasis Room will open on May 7, during Nurses Week, for nurses to take a few minutes to regroup, refresh, and reflect.
“Our staff has been through a particularly challenging year, and this Nurses Week, we want to provide them a quiet and calming retreat in the Nurse Oasis Room,” said Krystal Atkinson, Chief Nursing Executive at Mon Health. “This space will help decrease compassion fatigue and burnout. We hope this helps to express our gratitude to our caregivers for the care they provide to others and support their health and well-being.”
The Nurse Oasis Room itself is a space that has been transformed to feel far-removed from the hospital. It is equipped with comfortable seating, imitation sky lights, dim lighting, artwork, plants, a TV, and is optimized to give a restful experience for one or two nurses at a time. This room was made possible by the donation from Ken Weiss and Family.
The goal of the Nurse Oasis Room is to provide a separate space for those who care for others so that they are also able to care for themselves. Mon Health Medical Center hopes that with this addition, team resiliency, burnout rates, and overall staff well-being will improve.
As we celebrate Nurses Week from May 6 – May 12, 2021, you can also take a moment to thank your nurse through nominating them for The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Visit
