WVJC, Vandalia Health Celebrate Nursing Graduates at Pinning Ceremonies in Morgantown, Charleston

Posted Date: 11/18/2024

The West Virginia Junior College (WVJC) School of Nursing at Mon Health and Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) campuses celebrated nursing graduates during special pinning ceremonies held earlier this month in Charleston and Morgantown.

The ceremonies recognized 40 Morgantown and 28 Charleston nursing graduates who completed the WVJC School of Nursing’s 18-month nursing program and are now ready to enter the field. The nursing pinning ceremony marks a graduate’s transition from student to nurse, an achievement honoring their dedication and the impact they will soon have in the health care community.

“This pinning ceremony represents these nurses’ unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of their patients,” said WVJC Campus President Samantha Esposito. “We are incredibly proud of each of them, and we are thrilled to see the positive impact they will make in our community.”

The collaboration between the WVJC School of Nursing and Vandalia Health System provides students with a unique blend of virtual learning and hands-on training. Graduates completed their lab and clinical requirements at Vandalia Health facilities, allowing them to integrate with the company culture, connect with working professionals, and open doors for job opportunities upon graduation.

"We are proud to partner with West Virginia Junior College to support the education and career development of aspiring professionals,” said Jamie McLaughlin, Senior Director of Critical Care for Mon Health System. “Our partnership is more than just an educational initiative – it’s a commitment to strengthening health care in our community.”

“Nurses are such a critical part of providing quality health care,” said Heidi Edwards, Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President/Administrator, CAMC General Hospital. “Together, we will advocate for patients, provide compassionate care and embrace opportunities to learn and grow.”

The WVJC Schools of Nursing at Mon Health and CAMC are accepting applications for their next cohorts of nursing students beginning in April 2025. Applicants are encouraged to start the application process early as seats are limited and competitive.
