How Can Therapy Help You?

Psychotherapy can help people recover from depression, anxiety, and relationship problems.  There are several different approaches that include cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and other kinds of "talk" therapy.  Psychotherapy offers people the opportunity to identify the factors that contribute to their particular problems and to deal effectively with the psychological, behavioral, interpersonal, and situational causes.

Psychotherapy also helps people see choices and enables them to gradually incorporate enjoyable, fulfilling activities back into their lives. The therapists at Wedgewood can help people regain a sense of control and pleasure in life.

By conducting a thorough assessment, our licensed therapists can help make recommendations regarding an effective course of treatment.  This treatment may include the introduction of medications, which can be very helpful in reducing the symptoms of depression and anxiety in some people. Our psychiatrist, psychologist, counselors, and clinical social workers can aid in the management of such medications.

Psychiatry

A psychiatrist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental illnesses.  Psychiatrists complete four years of training in medical school, followed by four years of residency training in Behavioral Health. Psychiatrists concentrate on the biological reason of a certain behavior. They focus on the body’s functions and the complex relationship between emotional illness
and other medical illnesses.

As medical doctors, psychiatrists are both Behavioral Health providers and physicians who can understand both the psychological and physical symptoms of mental illness. As medical doctors, psychiatrists can prescribe medications that help alleviate symptoms of psychological disorders.

At Mon Health Wedgewood Psychiatry, our psychiatrist works in conjunction with other Behavioral Health professionals
to provide quality care to patients.
