First Time Mom Trusts Mon Health OBGYN | Jodi's Birth Story

Jodi Richardson and her husband were excited to welcome their first baby into the world. When it came time for her to pick a provider for her pregnancy and birth, Jodi trusted the team at Mon Health Obstetrics and Gynecology. 

“I appreciated the ‘small’ feel of the department, all of the wonderful postpartum resources provided, and the beautiful Family Birth Center where I would deliver. Not once did I second guess my decision,” she said. “Everyone truly cared about me and my baby, which is such a wonderful feeling! I knew that whatever happened during delivery, I would be in great hands.”

Fast forward to Jodi’s delivery date, it was decided that she would be induced due to her gestational hypertension. After her induction, a full day passed with no baby.  

“One of the nurses, Amanda, took over my care the next morning. She immediately started getting things in order and said, ‘we’re going to have a baby today!’ Despite the pain I was in, I was relieved,” said Jodi. “I knew that I was in very experienced hands. I trusted her to make changes when my birth plan wasn’t going the way I had hoped and accepted when she said I needed pain control, which was definitely the right choice.”

After receiving an epidural, Jodi’s labor progressed to the point where Dr. Marlee Greschner, OBGYN at Mon Health System, stepped in to deliver their sweet baby boy. 

“Dr. Greschner was extremely knowledgeable and encouraging. She and Amanda worked as a well-oiled machine and the other nurses did not miss a beat assisting them during delivery. Her bedside manner was fantastic,” she said. 

Jodi is a veterinarian who grew up in Morgantown. She enjoys spending time with her husband PJ, their baby boy, and their dogs. She also enjoys hiking, fishing, baking, reading, and traveling.

“They were right by my side during labor, and they were my cheerleaders alongside my husband. I was always respected and included on any decisions that were made. Each visit I had was met with a very positive feeling knowing I had made the right decision for me and my family.”
