The hospitals of Mon Health System have donated $10,000 worth of items to support Morgan Defense, a local private security company, in their upcoming humanitarian aid trip to Ukraine.
As Americans watch the unfolding conflict in Ukraine, West Virginians were asking what they could do to help. Dr. Rebecca Schmidt of WVU School of Medicine assisted in connecting Mon Health with the local company in their quest to collect medical items for transport to the Eastern European country.
Devin Morgan and Alex Shay of Morgan Defense gathered four pallets of donations on March 23 from three Mon Health facilities – Mon Health Medical Center, Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital, and Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital.
“Luckily, our facilities were able to quickly gather product samples and other items that would be useful for those in need. This is just a small gesture of help and hope during these unpredictable times,” said Keith Dabbs, Mon Health System Director of Supply Chain Management.
Morgan noted that his company has been working with the Ukrainian Consulate, in Philadelphia, to facilitate the humanitarian trip and is thankful for the support from the local community.
