Thanksgiving Turkey Trot Raises $1,800 for 3D Mammography at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital

Members of Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital and the Preston County community at the 2nd Annual Turkey Trot
Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital hosted its second annual Turkey Trot at Preston High School. The event was a fundraising effort for 3D Mammography at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital and raised over $1,800.
Over 30 staff and community members participated in the event and walked laps at the track to help raise money for 3D Mammography. Participants for the event were also entered to win prizes from event sponsors, including Grit Stone, Preston County News, and Journal, Save A Lot, Alpine Lake, Affordable Signs, The Preston County Inn, I AM FIT, Pizza Hut- Kingwood, Cat Daddy’s Rajin Cajun Café and Monroe’s Restaurant.
“We are so proud of our community and staff for their support of this event and 3D Mammography at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital. There is a great need for this technology in our community, and seeing the community step up is truly incredible,” Melissa Lockwood, CAO of Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital, said.
3D Mammography is an FDA-approved technology that takes multiple images, or X-Rays of breast tissue to recreate a 3-dimensional picture of the breast. Traditional mammography is only a single image. This technology helps to detect breast cancer early and detect more forms of cancer.
