Carla Hamner, MSN, RN, Hospital Administrator of Mon Health Marion Neighborhood Hospital
Mon Health Marion Neighborhood Hospital in White Hall has announced the selection of Upshur County resident Carla Hamner, MSN, RN, as hospital administrator. Hamner previously served as the Nurse Director of the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit at Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston.
“There is such a great opportunity to work with Dr. Christopher Edwards and the staff at this hospital. We have a great team who are already bringing excellent healthcare to the community with an innovative hospital format,” Hamner said. “This type of hospital is the first of its kind in West Virginia and it is quite exciting to be a part of it.”
“I am beyond excited to have Carla join the Mon Marion family,” Dr. Edwards said. “Her proven leadership will allow our hospital to grow and provide exceptional care for the patients of Marion County.”
The small-format hospital offers a smaller number of beds than a traditional hospital, but still brings high-level services such as a 24-hour emergency care unit, overnight hospitalization services, and on-site diagnostic testing and imaging. Additionally, in it’s location at the White Hall Commons, Mon Health Marion Neighborhood Hospital provides laboratory services and 10 inpatient beds.
“Small-format hospitals are a very good fit for rural areas where care option is limited. In this case, Mon Health Marion Neighborhood Hospital fills the void created by the closure of the Fairmont Regional Medical Center. We are bringing access to care in this area, so patients do not have to travel,” said Dr. Edwards.
