Mon Health Hosts Pinning Ceremony for WVJC Mon Scholars

Posted Date: 6/19/2024
Mon Health System held a pinning ceremony for West Virginia Junior College (WVJC) students and Mon Scholars at Mon Health Medical Center on Tuesday, June 18.

Mon Health System and West Virginia Junior College (WVJC) entered into a partnership in April 2022 to create the WVJC School of Nursing at Mon Health, serving healthcare needs of North Central West Virginia.

The Mon Health Scholars program provides WVJC School of Nursing students with financial resources for tuition, books, and academic fees. Nursing students complete their didactic coursework through WVJC’s online platform and satisfy most of their lab and clinical rotations within the Mon Health System network.

Forty-five students were awarded certificates of acceptance as Mon Scholars and given the opportunity to be hired as externs, patient care technicians, and clinical assistants while in nursing school. Additionally, all Mon Scholars are guaranteed job placement with Mon Health as a registered nurse upon graduation.

“Mon Health is thrilled to support the next generation of nurses through our partnership with West Virginia Junior College. Our Mon Scholars program is not only an investment in the education of these dedicated students, but also in the future of healthcare in North Central West Virginia,” said Lotoya Henry-Ojugbana, System Director of Talent Acquisition at Mon Health System. “We are proud to offer these students a seamless transition from education to employment, ensuring they have the resources, experience, and support they need to succeed in their nursing careers. Congratulations to all the students who were pinned. We look forward to welcoming you into the Mon Health family.”
