The top three winners for the Snowball Run, Noah Copley, first; Charlie Kirkpatrick, second; Jennifer Swift, third.
Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital held the fifth annual Snowball Run on Saturday, January 7 with 20 participants from across the region. The top three places were Noah Copley in first, Charlie Kirkpatrick in second, and Jennifer Swift in third.
“The importance of having these races is to promote healthy living and combat the obesity epidemic in the United States and West Virginia,” said Kevin Stalnaker, Chief Administrative Officer of Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. “It is our goal to be able to provide the opportunity to get out and exercise, even when it’s cold, for our community members to be able to maintain their health.”
The 2022 Lewis County Community Health Needs Assessment found that 43% of adults in the county were considered obese, an increase from the 2019 findings and 17 points over the national benchmark. Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital works to combat these statistics by encouraging physical activity through walk/runs held throughout the county.
The hospital is continuing its series with the fourth annual Ground Hog Day 5K Walk/Run. The event will take place on Saturday, February 4 at 10 AM at Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital located at 230 Hospital Plaza in Weston.
There is a $5 cost for the race and prizes are awarded to the top three winners. Race day registration will be available beginning at 9 AM. Call 304-517-8612 for more information or register now at
