Vandalia Health Hospitals and Hope Gas Partner to Promote Early Breast Cancer Detection and Improved Outcomes
Posted Date: 10/4/2024
During October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Vandalia Health’s Mon Health System and Davis Health System are partnering with Hope Gas to raise awareness of the critical importance of early detection in improving breast cancer outcomes. By encouraging women to receive potentially life-saving mammograms, the partnership aims to promote proactive health measures that lead to earlier diagnoses, more effective treatments, and better long-term survival rates. To further motivate women, those who receive a mammogram during October will be gifted a free crossbody bag, reinforcing the message that early action is key to better outcomes.
“Here, Hope is Different” is the theme of Mon Health and Davis Health’s 2024 Breast Cancer campaign. Together, the health systems offer compassionate, comprehensive care to patients across the region, and this October, are highlighting the unique community hospital atmospheres where patients truly feel the difference in their care.
Mammograms are recommended for women over age 40 to receive yearly. Mon Health and Davis Health offer 3D mammograms, which are proven to be more effective at detecting breast cancer than traditional mammograms. Screening results are read and sent to the patient within 24 hours. In an effort to encourage women to get screened, Mon Health and Davis Health are partnering with Hope Gas to provide clear crossbody bags to each person who receives their mammogram in October.
“Mon Health System, Davis Health System, and Hope Gas share the vision of enhancing our state’s wellness, so partnering to encourage vital breast cancer detection screenings was a no-brainer,” said David Goldberg, President and CEO of Mon Health System and Davis Health System - Vandalia Health North, and Executive Vice President of Vandalia Health. “This partnership emphasizes our commitment to community wellness by removing barriers and promoting early detection. Together, we are not only raising awareness but ensuring that women across the region have access to advanced mammography and the peace of mind that comes from quick results.”
Hope Gas was a title sponsor of the 2023 Mon Health Medical Center Auxiliary Ball of the Year and supported Mon Health Medical Center in funding its Care Cottage, a patient-family stay house on the hospital’s campus.
“At Hope Gas, we are proud to stand with Mon Health and Davis Health in the fight against breast cancer,” said Morgan O’Brien, President and CEO of Hope Gas. “Our commitment goes beyond providing energy—it’s about powering the communities we serve in every way we can. We’re excited to partner with Mon Health again and now Davis Health. By encouraging early detection through this campaign, we’re helping to protect the health of women in West Virginia, ensuring they have the resources and support they need to stay strong and resilient.”
