Morgantown Joins Fight Against Prostate Cancer
Posted Date: 8/16/2022
The Mon Health Medical Center Auxiliary is proud to announce the first ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk in West Virginia to support prostate cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and families. The race – part of a national event series – shows community support through raising funds and awareness for those active in the fight against prostate cancer. Morgantown and surrounding area community members will come together on Sunday, August 28 at 8:30 AM to fight a disease that takes the life of an American man every 15 minutes.
Morgantown joins nearly fifty communities as part of the nation’s only event series dedicated solely to prostate cancer for more than a decade. The Run/Walk is hosted by the Mon Health Medical Center Auxiliary and promotes disease awareness, educates men about their risk, and raises critical funding to support patients and families. The event will also feature local food trucks.
“Through our unique partnership model, premier urology practices in cities around the country plan an important role with us to raise significant funding and awareness, build local prostate cancer communities, and end prostate cancer,” said Tracy Cesaretti, ZERO’s Vice President of Events.
“The Mon Health Medical Center Auxiliary is excited to host the first ever Prostate Cancer Run/Walk in West Virginia to support those affected by prostate cancer in our local community,” said Chris Battin, Auxiliary Board President. “In 2022 alone, over 1,500 people will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in WV, and we hope that through this event, we can help raise funds to help those patients and increase awareness of the disease.”
Mon Health System will also be hosting a bartender challenge on Thursday, August 18 from 6 – 8 PM at Bartini Prime in Morgantown. Mon Health Urologists, Drs. John Battin, David Hall, and Jaschar Shakuri-Rad, will compete against PA-C’s, Beth Guzzi, Megan McKown, and Lance Bryson, to see who can raise the most funds. All proceeds will benefit the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk on August 28.
The event will take place at the Mylan Park Track Complex at 1847 Fitness Way in Morgantown. For more information, visit
