Posted Date: 2/26/2025
Patients receiving treatment at Vandalia Health Zelda Stein Weiss Cancer Center in Morgantown and Vandalia Health Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood were surprised with a variety of comfort items to support their care thanks to a generous donation of care packages from Clear Mountain Bank staff.
For this project, Clear Mountain Bank, along with industry partners Alkami and Prelim, purchased items to create 250 packages to distribute to local hospitals throughout the bank’s service region, with more than 100 packages donated to Mon Health’s Cancer Center and Preston Memorial Hospital.
“We are honored to be able to support patients at the Zelda Stein Weiss Cancer Center and Preston Memorial Hospital with these care packages,” said David M. Thomas, President and CEO, Clear Mountain Bank. “We believe in giving back to the communities we serve, and this donation is just one way we can provide comfort and hope to those fighting cancer. We hope these care packages will offer some small measure of comfort during a challenging time.”
The care packages were assembled by Clear Mountain Bank staff across all locations and included carefully selected comfort items including neck pillows, blankets, socks, puzzle books, tea and more to offer relief and encouragement.
“This project hits close to home for me because I lost my mother [to cancer] six years ago, and every item included in the care packages is something that made her more comfortable while she was undergoing treatment,” said Carmen Pennington, Branch Manager, Clear Mountain Bank Pierpont and Suncrest locations.
“We are deeply grateful for Clear Mountain Bank’s generous donation to our patients,” said Regan Siko, Director, Oncology Service Line, Mon Health System, Davis Health System. “The care packages are a wonderful reminder of the support and care available to our patients from the community. It’s acts like these that help make a difference in the lives of those battling cancer, and we are thankful for Clear Mountain Bank’s continued commitment to making our patients feel supported and cared for.”
