Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital Registered Nurse Receives DAISY Award

Posted Date: 1/2/2024
Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital is proud to honor Billie Jo Hoffman, RN, as The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses recipient.

The DAISY Award is awarded to nurses biannually at the hospital and is a part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize and thank nurses for the care and kindness they provide. Nominations are sent in by patients, families, and coworkers and compiled to award selected recipients.

“I’m extremely grateful and humbled to receive the DAISY award,” said Billie Jo. “As a nurse, my job is to care for patients; I do not expect awards for doing my job. I could tell from the beginning this procedure and recovery could be tough, but I couldn’t be more thankful to receive this nomination from Mrs. Calvert.”

Billie Jo is a Registered Nurse in Acute Care at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital and has worked for Mon Health since 2015. Because of Billie Jo’s acts of selflessness and commitment to go above and beyond for her patients, she was nominated and selected as a recipient for this award.

“Billie Jo Hoffman was my nurse the day after surgery. I had a nerve block before surgery and it was beginning to fade. Because of her knowledge and past experience, I was able to maintain pain relief for the balance of my stay. She stood out as a professional nurse who went beyond the normal to provide relief for this special needs patient,” said Sandra Calvert patient and nominator.

Nurses can be nominated by anyone who has been affected by their care – patients, family members, other nurses, physicians, other clinicians, and staff – anyone who has experienced or observed extraordinary, compassionate care being provided by a nurse. Say thank you to a nurse and nominate them for the DAISY Award by visiting MonHealth.com/DAISY. To learn more about the DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses, visit DAISYFoundation.org.
