Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital Registered Nurse Receives DAISY Award

The DAISY Award is awarded to nurses biannually at the hospital and is a part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize and thank nurses for the care and kindness they provide. Nominations are sent in by patients, families, and coworkers and compiled to award selected recipients.
“It really is an honor to receive the DAISY award. I was surprised to hear that I was nominated for a DAISY. I felt like I had done nothing special, nothing different than any other day. Our daily efforts are sometimes unrecognized, not by our patients, but by ourselves. Sometimes you don't realize the impact you have on others,” said Rinkes. “In the moment of critical situations, it's important to remember that you are caring for a person, someone’s loved one, who is typically in their most desperate time. Compassion is the core of nursing and should always be the focus when caring for our patients. I want to thank the patient for this nomination and for reminding me that our efforts are indeed appreciated.”
Rinkes is a Registered Nurse at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital and has worked for Mon Health. Rinkes began his work at the hospital in 2017 as a traveler in the Emergency Department, Acute Care Unit, and Intensive Care Unit. Since May 2020, he has been a staff nurse in the Clinical Resource Department and works in the Emergency Department, Acute Care Unit, and Nursing Supervisor Department. Because of his acts of selflessness and commitment to go above and beyond for his patients, Rinkes was nominated and selected as a recipient for this award.
