Mon Health Physician Named Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery

Mon Health Medical Center physician Byron Dodson, DO, was recently awarded the designation of Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), a leading independent organization that recognizes and certifies excellence in health care and surgical care worldwide.

The Master Surgeon designation is awarded to physicians who meet the SRC’s standards for experience, skill, and patient outcomes. To earn this honor, Dodson underwent a thorough evaluation process including a review of surgical outcomes, techniques, and ongoing professional education.

Robotic surgery utilizes advanced systems to assist surgeons in performing complex procedures with greater precision, flexibility, and control. Instead of directly manipulating surgical instruments, surgeons operate robotic arms from a console equipped with a high-definition, 3D camera and hand controls. Robotic surgery often results in shorter recovery times, smaller incisions, and reduced post-operative pain compared to traditional surgical methods.
