Mon Health System Welcomes First Administrative Fellow, Anna Sellaro
Posted Date: 2/20/2024
Mon Health System is pleased to announce the appointment of Anna Sellaro as the inaugural participant in its Administrative Fellowship Program. This one-year fellowship is designed to cater to the specific interests and career goals of administrative fellows, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to organizational initiatives and gain valuable mentorship from Mon Health's senior executives.
The Administrative Fellowship Program spans 12 months, with the initial nine months focused on rotations and project-based work in various areas of the organization. During this period, fellows will engage in hands-on experiences related to hospital operations, continuous improvement, strategic planning, financial management, patient safety, information technology, regulatory compliance, physician partnership, insurance/payer relations, and rural healthcare management.
In the last three months of the fellowship, Sellaro will undertake an executive-level capstone project, demonstrating the skills and insights gained throughout her tenure.
Sellaro brings a wealth of qualifications to her role, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Services Management and Leadership, and will soon graduate with her master’s in Health Administration from West Virginia University. Her previous work experience and commitment to the Mon Health values of Integrity, Commitment, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence align seamlessly with Mon Health's mission to enhance the health of the communities it serves, one person at a time.
The fellowship's key components include direct access to Mon Health's CEO, executive suite, and entire management staff, participation in leadership and senior management meetings, involvement in central corporate functions like finance and general operations, and the completion of special projects essential to Mon Health's strategic goals.
Examples of projects that fellows will undertake include working with new hospital builds, collaborating with new health systems, streamlining processes, participating in budget season with the finance team, leading targeted initiatives based on the Vandalia Health Strategic Plan, and developing creative staffing plans with non-traditional healthcare work schedules.
The fellowship's overarching goals are to support fellows in developing a comprehensive understanding of Mon Health's operations, preparing them for a contributing role on a healthcare management team post-fellowship, and enhancing essential managerial competencies such as customer service, financial stewardship, operations management, change management, and performance analysis.
“It is an honor to be named the first administrative fellow for Mon Health System. I am really looking forward to learning more about my chosen profession under the guidance of Mon Health’s amazing leadership team,” said Sellaro. “I know that once I complete this fellowship, I will be well prepared for my next career step. I intend to make Mon Health and its Board proud of their choice of me for this great opportunity.”
