Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital Celebrates Blood Donor Milestones

Blood Donor Milestone Recipients
During a blood drive in April at the Kingwood Community Building, Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital celebrated blood donors who hit significant donation milestones. Of the 45 donors who attended, nine people were recognized for gallon milestones ranging from one gallon all the way up to 14 total gallons donated. The hospital also celebrated exceeding their drive goal of 33 by donating a total of 38 units.
Most donors give one unit with each donation and eight units are in a gallon. This means some donors who celebrated milestones have donated over 100 times in their lifetime. Just one unit of blood collected has the potential to impact up to three people. Each milestone donor received a special gallon pin for their significant achievement.
“I give blood because it’s just good to help other people,” said one donor. “I’ll give as long as they will take my blood,” said another.
“We started hosting blood drives over 40 years ago and we are so grateful to our community for continuing to come out to give blood for others,” said Kim Liston, Community Programs Coordinator at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital. “We’d also like to thank Matthews International for supporting our drive.”
The next blood drive hosted by Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital is June 6 from 12 – 5:30 PM at the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department.
