Mon Health to Open New Heart & Vascular Center in Elkins

In a move to accommodate a growing patient base, Mon Health has recently purchased property in Elkins to expand its Heart and Vascular Center.

Mon Health reached an agreement with the Randolph County Economic Development Authority (EDA) to secure the land along Railroad Avenue between the Go-Mart and the Holiday Inn Express.

Since 1994, Mon Health has been serving the cardiac and vascular health needs of Randolph County and surrounding communities at its current Main Street location.

“The Mon Health philosophy is to treat our patients as individuals through continuity of care.  This means that our heart and vascular patients see the same providers throughout their healthcare journey.  Our patients have doctors who know them as people, not numbers,” said Mon Health President and CEO Darryl Duncan.  “Our goal for the Heart & Vascular Center is to provide our patients with convenient, easy access to the high quality local providers they have been seeing for over 20 years.”

The new building site will allow the Heart & Vascular Center to provide cardiology and electrophysiology, as well as cardiac diagnostics in the office setting.  The building is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2018. The one-story building will have 8,000 square feet of interior space, with approximately 20 exam rooms and extra space for diagnostic testing and cardiac rehabilitation.

“I began my cardiology practice career with Mon General in 1984. Even then, our group had a very close relationship with Davis Memorial Hospital and the local physician community,” said Morgan Lyons, MD, Cardiologist at the Mon Health Heart & Vascular Center. “My commitment to this area has never wavered. As a Barbour County native, many of my long term friends come to Elkins for their medical care. Over a year ago, I made an even greater commitment to this region, making Elkins my primary clinical base. I fully appreciate the support of Mon Health and look forward to the completion of a state of the art cardiovascular care facility that will allow us to even better serve the region.”

Services offered at the Mon Health Heart & Vascular Center include cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, electrophysiology and cardiac rehab.  There are heart & Vascular sites in Fairmont, McHenry, MD, Kingwood and Morgantown, as well as the Elkins location.

Mon Health is a two-hospital system including Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, and Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood, and the upcoming addition of Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston. Services include oncology, orthopedics/sports medicine and physical therapy, obstetrics/gynecology, general surgery, imaging services/radiology, pulmonology, primary care, gastroenterology, urology, sleep therapy, dermatology, vein care and wound care, among others.
