Family Medicine Residency

Cornerstone Care Teaching Health Center (CCTHC) Family Medicine Residency is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). We are one of approximately 60 Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) Programs designated and funded by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). We are proud to be affiliated with Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, WV. Teaching Health Center (THC) Programs prepare residents to provide high-quality care, particularly in rural and underserved communities, and develop competencies to serve those diverse populations and communities.

Our program provides a broad inpatient experience to allow residents to feel confident practicing hospital-based medicine. The majority of inpatient and specialty rotations take place at Mon Health Medical Center, a 164-bed facility with state of the art technology, an outstanding physician staff, and a highly respected reputation in the tri-state area. The ambulatory care component of our program takes place in the Cornerstone Care clinics and other affiliated physician offices in the community. Cornerstone Care provides a full spectrum of family medicine experience including comprehensive medical care for many of the underserved patients in the region, exposing the residents to exceptional training in rural medicine. Residents also rotate at WVU in Morgantown, WV during their first year of residency for inpatient pediatrics, and at Washington Health System - Greene in Waynesburg, PA during each year of training for additional inpatient medicine experience.

We offer a Sports Medicine track which is a 2 year longitudinal experience for residents interested in sports medicine or who plan to apply to sports medicine fellowships. Our program has also received Osteopathic Recognition through ACGME in order to continue our osteopathic emphasis in the program.  We have teaching faculty that have special interests in women’s health, psychiatry, and research and offer additional training in these areas for residents.  Our program also has a longitudinal behavioral medicine experience which allows residents to keep continuity with their patients in behavioral medicine clinic which is a unique opportunity for residents. Residents may choose our Behavioral Medicine track which provides additional experience to enhance the longitudinal experience.

Cornerstone Care and Mon Health Medical Center are committed to resident education and improving access to medical care for patients.  Feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions about our program.

Sincerely,
Amber Warren DO
Program Director
