Foundation Golf Tournament raises more than $50,000

            The Foundation of Mon General Hospital raised more than $50,000 at its 22nd Annual DeLynn Mon General Foundation Invitational Golf Classic held on Monday, Aug. 20, at the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport.

            Triple Platinum sponsor for the tournament was Jean DeLynn. Chairman sponsors were Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; JacksonKelly, PLLC; BB&T Bank; Wells Fargo; Gabriel Brothers; Mountaineer Contractors, Inc.; and the Morgantown Medical Arts Building. The tournament is dedicated to the memory of Laurence DeLynn.

            First place gross with a score of 55, went to the team of John Wassick; Dan Wassick; Dan Wassick, Jr.; Kirk Wassick, Tom Suplita and Sam Urso. Each year the winning gross team selects the project to be funded from the tournament proceeds. The project selected this year was The Foundation's Commitment Continues..." campaign. The goal of the capital campaign is to raise $6 million in support of improvements to Orthopedics, Endoscopy, the Cath Lab and the Hazel Ruby McQuain Birth Center at Mon General Hospital.

            First place net with a score of 49 was the team of Mitch Swisher, Elroy Face, Mel Blount, Angelo MacCagnan, Bob Toth and George Marshall. In second place, with a score of 50 was the team of Glenn Adrian, Greg Gibbs, Tom Heywood, Steve Blass, JT Straface and Kevin Adrian. In third place, also with a score of 50 by tie breaker, was the team of Mike Painter, Rich Painter, Randy Buzzo, Randy Casteel, John Julian and Eric Wilson.

            Skill prizes at the Golf Classic included: Closest to Pin No. 4, Chuck Haynes; Straightest Drive on No. 5, Steve Decker; Longest Drive on No. 6, Randy Casteel; Closest to Pin No. 7, Tom Suplita; Closest to Pin No. 13, Tom Miller; Longest Drive on No. 14, Eric Wilson; Closest to Pin No. 16, Joe Horvath; and Longest Putt on No. 18, Steve Brooks.
