Vandalia Health’s Mon Health Medical Center has been named one of the best hospitals in the United States and West Virginia by Newsweek in their America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2025 ranking. This honor places Mon Health among the top 700 hospitals in the nation and highlights its commitment to high-quality healthcare.
“This award is a reflection of our commitment to providing the highest quality care to our communities,” said Krystal Atkinson, Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Nursing Officer of Mon Health Medical Center and Chief Nursing Executive of Mon Health System. “At Mon Health, our team is deeply invested in the health and well-being of every patient we serve, and we are honored to receive this recognition as one of the best in our state.”
The ranking, conducted by Newsweek and Statista, evaluated hospitals across the U.S. based on four comprehensive data pillars:
1.Hospital Quality Metrics: The analysis incorporated data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the American Hospital Association (AHA) Annual Survey of Hospitals Database, and a variety of accreditation sources to assess the quality of care at each hospital.
2.Nationwide Online Survey: A nationwide survey conducted in partnership with Newsweek from July to August 2024 collected input from healthcare professionals, including doctors, hospital managers, and other healthcare workers. Participants were asked to recommend hospitals based on their professional expertise, both in their own states and across the country.
3.HCAHPS Patient Experience Surveys: Hospitals were evaluated through results from Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient experience surveys, reflecting patient satisfaction and experiences.
4.PROMs Implementation Survey: To account for the importance of patient-reported outcomes, hospitals participating in a voluntary survey on Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) received an implementation score to highlight their commitment to patient-centered care.
“At Vandalia Health, we are continually evaluating our processes and outcomes,” said David Goldberg, President and CEO of Mon Health System and Davis Health System - Vandalia Health North, and Executive Vice President of Vandalia Health. “This ensures we are always advancing and delivering the best care to our patients one patient at a time. We have the best doctors, nurses, colleagues, and volunteers across our health system supporting patient care and could not ask for a more engaged community-focused board to ensure we stay laser-focused on community health care needs and quality delivery to the patient.”
