Meet Dr. Daouadi
Dr. Mustapha Daouadi, MD, FACS, FASMBS, is a highly experienced and board-certified general surgeon specializing in bariatric and foregut surgery. With his extensive expertise, he performs a range of advanced and specialized surgical procedures, including advanced endoscopy, revisional bariatric surgery, gastric band (or “lap band”), gastric bypass, biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch, and gastric sleeve. He utilizes advanced technology, including robotic assistance and the Laparoscopic approach, to ensure the best possible outcomes for his patients. He treats people for various conditions affecting the stomach and gastrointestinal (GI) system, including hiatal and para-esophageal hernia, achalasia and acid reflux (GERD).
Board-certified in general surgery, Dr. Daouadi earned his medical degree from Algiers University in Algeria. He moved to the United States and completed his internship at Brigham’s and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, and completed a residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He then completed his minimally invasive general and metabolic bariatric surgery fellowship at Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh UPMC. He has been in practice since 2017. He has been in practice since 2017 and has worked as a bariatric and foregut surgeon at Geisinger Health System in PA, and Allegiance Henry Ford Health System in Jackson, MI. Dr. Daouadi also served as co-director of research at Geisinger Health System, and Director of bariatric surgery at Allegiance Henry Ford Health System.
Dr. Daouadi is the program director of metabolic and bariatric surgery at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Dr. Daouadi has authored numerous publications and assisted in educating and mentoring residents and fellows in bariatrics and minimally invasive surgery. He is an active member of the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Foregut Surgery, and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons.

Meet Dr. Mejias
Emanuel Mejias Lafontaine, MD, is board-certified in general surgery with advanced fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery including robotic and bariatric surgery. Dr. Mejias was born and raised on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. He completed his surgical specialty in St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He then completed his Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland, California. During his fellowship, he trained under highly specialized surgeons treating a wide spectrum of general surgical conditions. Dr. Mejias was able to perform more than 200 robotic procedures guided by one of the pioneer groups in robotic surgery on the West Coast led by Dr. Ajay Upadhyay, bariatric surgeon, Dr. Rockson Liu, advanced hernia specialist, Dr. Steven Stanten, Dr. Rupert Horoupian, and Dr. Michael Sung.
Dr. Mejias offers general surgery procedures and robotic bariatric surgeries at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, West Virginia. He is passionate about helping patients lose weight to achieve a healthier and more fulfilling life. Dr. Mejias is a firm believer that bariatric surgery is an excellent tool to achieve a better quality of life and improve other medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, reflux, and more. Additionally, he will perform surgeries to treat gastric pathologies, hiatal hernias, abdominal wall hernias, groin hernias, and colorectal surgeries for diverticulosis and cancer.
