Mon Health Medical Center Launches NEW Bariatrics Program and Welcomes New Bariatric Surgeon

Mon Health Medical Center is pleased to welcome Dr. Mustapha Daouadi as Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery, a new, comprehensive service being offered at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, as well as procedures offered at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood.
Dr. Daouadi obtained his medical degree from the University of Algiers, Algeria. He served an internship in general surgery at Brigham Women’s Hospital of Harvard Medical School, in Boston, MA, a residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, located in Boston, MA, and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Daouadi completed a fellowship in bariatric surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital.
“I am passionate about bariatric healthcare and have been providing this service for many years around the world,” said Dr. Daouadi. “I am proud to bring my expertise and experience to Mon Health System and provide expanded access to bariatric healthcare in West Virginia.”
Dr. Daouadi joins Dr. Emanuel Mejias, Mon Health General Surgeon who specializes in bariatric surgery. Through Mon Health Bariatrics, Dr. Daouadi and Dr. Mejias will offer advanced procedures, including minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery options.
“I look forward to joining Dr. Daouadi in this new service line and expanding the scope of my practice to include my specialty in bariatrics,” Dr. Mejias. “I believe that bariatrics is an essential specialty in healthcare and I am honored to be a part of spearheading this service at Mon Health.”
