Donna Pifer Named Volunteer of the Year

Donna was nominated for the Mon Health Medical Center award for her diligent work at the hospital’s gift shop. In addition to her role in the gift shop, Donna serves as co-lead for the hospital’s Comfort Closet program. The Comfort Closet provides essential clothing to patients in the Emergency Department who may not have adequate clothing to go home in. Her efforts ensure patients are treated with dignity and care, even in difficult situations.
“Volunteering is at the heart of everything we do at Mon Health Medical Center,” said Jacob Mulder, Director of Volunteer Services. “Volunteers like Donna showcase the incredible impact that consistent dedication can have. It’s the compassion from volunteers like her that truly make a difference in the lives of our patients and community.”
In addition to her recognition at Mon Health Medical Center, Donna was also honored with the Northern District of West Virginia Hospital Association’s Volunteer of the Year Award, further highlighting the broad impact she has made across the region. Donna's contributions reflect her commitment not just to Mon Health Medical Center, but to the wider healthcare community in West Virginia.
“I’m incredibly honored to win this award. It truly reflects the hard work of so many people who believe in making a difference,” said Pifer. “I love to volunteer because it gives me a chance to connect with my community and contribute to causes that I am passionate about.”
