Posted Date: 12/5/2019
Striving to provide quality career education and professional certifications for individuals seeking employment in a variety of industries, Laurel Business Institute (LBI) is opening a new campus location in Morgantown, WV, in collaboration with Mon Health System. A signing for the new campus location was held on Thursday, Dec. 5 at Mon Health Medical Center.

"Building sustainable relationships with local employers to establish professional career experience opportunities for students and graduates is a priority for LBI," said Douglas Decker, Executive Vice President of Operations at Laurel Business Institute. "LBI is pleased to obtain the 200 Wedgewood Drive property and to collaborate with Mon Health System as we launch our apprenticeship program."

LBI's aim is to become part of the fabric in the communities they serve. The apprenticeship program with Mon Health System demonstrates this commitment. Decker says, "Mon Health has welcomed us with open arms, and we look forward to training qualified graduates to meet their growing workforce. We hope to grow similar partnerships with all types of organizations throughout north central West Virginia."

Mon Health System has a large presence near LBI's Morgantown and Uniontown locations, providing job placement and clinical sites for students in medical programs requiring internships.

"We are pleased to initiate this partnership with the Laurel Business Institute to expand educational opportunities to area students," said. Mark Gilliam, Mon Health System Chief Information Officer and Mon Health Medical Center Chief Administration Officer. "Apprenticeship programs provide valuable experience to prepare students for future career placements. We are proud to be charged with the mission to equip students with knowledge to shape their future."

The LBI Morgantown-Satellite campus opened its doors in 2013 and currently offers programs such as Cosmetology, Electrical Technician, Hair styling and Nail Technician, Phlebotomy Technician and Massage Therapy. Anticipating the new Morgantown campus location, LBI is exploring additional programs to meet the needs of employers and industry opportunities in the region.
