Local Photographer Adds Artistic Touch to Mon Health Stonewall Physical Therapy Clinic Walls

Posted Date: 9/27/2024
Mon Health Stonewall Physical Therapy is excited to announce the addition of several stunning canvas prints to our clinic located on W. Second Street, generously donated by local photographer and patient, Alan Tucker. Each print features breathtaking images taken throughout West Virginia adding a personal and regional touch to our space.

Alan Tucker, a gifted photographer, discovered his love for photography in an unexpected way. “My initiation to photography came about by accident,” Tucker shared. “In early January 2008, my sister-in-law asked if I wanted to go to a photography class with her at the Senior Center. I found it interesting and bought a point-and-shoot camera afterwards. It wasn’t until 2011 that I invested in an advanced camera and took a workshop in the mountains to learn its capabilities. That’s when photography truly became an amazing hobby for me.”

Tucker’s nature photography has evolved into a deep passion, bringing him great joy in sharing the beauty of West Virginia. "A couple great joys of my photography have been sharing what I’ve learned with aspiring photographers and using my work to raise funds for disadvantaged families," Tucker added.

His philanthropic efforts, particularly through his involvement with the Band of Brothers, have had a profound impact on the local community. “Every fall, our Band of Brothers, a group of Christian men, runs a project called Help Us Help Kids. Our goal is to brighten the holidays for underprivileged children and their parents,” Tucker explained. "We raise funds through donations and my annual WV Scenic Calendar, which helps provide food and gifts for those in need, and allows us to assist with construction projects like building handicap ramps for the elderly. Last year, we were honored with The Governor's Service Award for our work."

Tucker’s photographs have brought new life and character to the clinic walls, creating a calming and inviting environment for patients and staff alike. “We’re incredibly fortunate to have Alan Tucker’s artwork featured in our clinic,” said Kevin Stalnaker, Chief Administrative Officer for Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. “The prints have brightened our space and sparked conversations among patients about the beauty of our state. It’s wonderful to see how art can bring people together.”
