Mon Health Heart and Vascular Center in Morgantown and Elkins Earn National Accreditation for Advanced Diagnostic Care

Mon Health Heart and Vascular Center has been awarded a three-year accreditation in echocardiography – a non-invasive assessment that can detect heart disease and signs of serious cardiovascular issues – based on results of an independent, third-party evaluation.

The designation, from the non-profit Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC), is based on assessment of care team staff experience, equipment and technology, and the quality measurements and outcomes.

“Mon Health is continuing to raise the bar in heart health care for North Central West Virginia citizens,” said Dr. Samantha Crites, cardiologist at the Heart & Vascular Center. “This is an indicator of consistent quality care and a dedication to continuous improvement.”

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, followed closely by stroke as the fourth highest cause of death. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), more than 2,150 Americans die each day from cardiovascular disease which amounts to about one every 40 seconds.

Accreditation by IAC indicates that Mon Health Heart and Vascular Center has undergone an intensive application and review process and is found to follow the published Standards thus demonstrating a commitment to quality patient care in echocardiography.
