Mon Health Heart & Vascular Performs 100th Thrombectomy with the Inari FlowTriever Device
Posted Date: 11/16/2023
On November 10, Mon Health Heart and Vascular performed its 100th thrombectomy with the Inari FlowTriever Device, the first device to be awarded an FDA indication for treatment of Pulmonary Embolism (PE).
PE is a common yet devastating condition in which one or more pulmonary arteries becomes blocked by a blood clot. Over the years, PE has been treated with various success rates. Oftentimes, patients with PE must undergo multiple procedures or use clot busting medications that pose a significant bleeding risk. However, with the use of the Inari FlowTriever, Mon Health Heart & Vascular patients are seeing significant clinical benefits.
“Our experience with the Inari thrombectomy system has highlighted several advantages across the board,” said Dr. Matthew Cindric, Chief of Vascular Surgery at Mon Health Medical Center. “We are seeing an improved clearance of clots with quicker procedural times, a virtual elimination of clot busting medication, and the ability to perform a single procedure instead of multiple. For many patients, the clinical benefit of the procedure has been immediate and profound. Some patients are being discharged the following day and returning to normal activities very quickly.”
There has been a significant increase in the prevalence of PE over the past three years, but with the use of the Inari FlowTriever, Mon Health Heart & Vascular has been able to treat patients in a timelier and safer manner.
“Mon Health Heart & Vascular continues to deliver the most updated, evidence-based care available to improve patient care and outcomes,” said Dr. Bradford Warden, Executive Director at Mon Health Heart and Vascular Center and Chief of Cardiology. “I am incredibly grateful and proud of our nationally accredited team for continuing to identify and execute services to fit the needs of our patients.”
