Mon Health Marion Neighborhood Hospital is infection free since opening in December 2021
Posted Date: 8/23/2023
Mon Health Marion Neighborhood Hospital has been infection free since its opening on December 14, 2021, over 600 days and counting.
Hospital acquired infections are deemed an important public health and patient safety issue by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. For a hospital to be designated as infection free, patients must not contract an infection during the duration of their hospitalization.
“Achieving over 600 days without a hospital acquired infection is no small task,” said Alison Gwynne, Infection Preventionist at Mon Health Marion Neighborhood Hospital and Mon Health Medical Center. “It takes the whole team, from the moment that a patient is admitted, to recognizing symptoms, early testing, and communication to have this success.”
Mon Health System is dedicated to providing a safe and healing environment, free from harm. The Infection Prevention Department proactively identifies and reduces risks to patients, their families, and staff to ensure an extraordinary experience, compassionate care, and clinical excellence.
“We are extremely proud to be infection free,” said Carla Hamner, Hospital Administrator at Mon Marion Neighborhood Hospital. “Our team uses an evidence-based approach to prevent infections starting with the cleanliness of our environment to the delivery of care, keeping our patients at the center of all we do.”
