Posted Date: 10/16/2023
On September 28, Mon Health Medical Center’s Auxiliary was awarded for two initiatives by the Auxiliary of West Virginia Hospital Association (AWVHA): State Service Project of the Year and the Service and Fundraising Project of the Year.
The Mon Health Medical Center Auxiliary contributes to the community’s health by raising money for the hospital for various patient needs. The Auxiliary is made up of members that work to support projects and provide improvements for the patients, families, and staff of Mon Health Medical Center.
“We are extremely proud to be awarded with the State Service Project of the Year and the Service and Fundraising Project of the Year,” said Christine Battin, Mon Health Medical Center Auxiliary Board President. “These awards are a declaration of our commitment to serving the community and the impact we’ve made on the lives of patients at Mon Health Medical Center.”
The “Free Rides On Ground,” or FROG, was awarded the State Service Project of the Year by the AWVHA. The FROG was purchased and donated to Mon Health Medical Center by the Auxiliary and is designed to transport patients to and from their vehicles on the hospital campus.
Mon Health’s Annual Ball of the Year was awarded the Service and Fundraising Project of the Year for a hospital between 100-199 beds. The 2022 Ball of the Year was held in support of the Progressing Through Postpartum Program (P3), and raised more than $500,000, making it one of the most successful fundraisers to date for the hospital.
“As a nonprofit hospital system, the Auxiliary is an integral part of our organization, and these awards testify to the incredible work being done to support our mission to enhance the health of the community, one person at a time,” said Dr. Krystal Atkinson, Chief Administrative Officer of Mon Health Medical Center and Chief Nursing Officer of Mon Health System. “I would like to extend my deepest appreciation and thanks to the Auxilians for their tireless efforts and passion for patient care. Their dedication makes a valuable impact for the work that we do.”
