In May 2023, Dr. Shakuri-Rad performed the first urologic single port procedure in West Virginia using the da Vinci SP system. The da Vinci SP gives surgeons the ability to deliver robotic-assisted surgery through a single port. This single port surgery allows for fewer incisions to reduce the impact on patient outcomes. The system’s unique patient cart design, instruments optimized for single port surgery, and advanced vision can help empower surgeons to perform procedures with a range of complexity.
