Mon Health Medical Center Reflects on Core Values for 2024

Mon Health Medical Center is a 155-bed hospital located in Morgantown, West Virginia with a mission to enhance the health of the communities it serves, one person at a time. In 2023, the hospital remained steadfast in this commitment and was a leader in rural healthcare advances to benefit patients statewide.
Throughout 2023, Mon Health Medical Center was at the forefront of medical practices and technology. In just the last year, Dr. Shakuri-Rad performed the first urologic single port procedure in West Virginia using the da Vinci Single Port system by Intuitive, the hospital was named as a High Performing Hospital in Heart Failure and COPD by U.S. News’ Best Hospitals, Dr. Matthew Gaskill performed the state’s first cardiac ablation using POLARx, the hospital’s Family Birth Center was re-designated as one of the only Baby-Friendly hospitals in the state, Dr. Wissam Gharib performed the first renal denervation in West Virginia for high blood pressure, and much more.
In addition to its advances to healthcare, Mon Health Medical Center is proud to have served its communities with personalized and compassionate care. Three nurses were awarded the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses, the Mon Pathways to Success Program was founded and graduated two cohorts of individuals, and the hospital’s Auxiliary hosted a variety of fundraisers to support patient care, including the annual Ball of the Year which raised over $500,000 for new patient family stay houses.
