Mon Health Medical Center Registered Nurse Receives DAISY Award

Posted Date: 4/25/2024
Mon Health Medical Center is proud to honor Janine Barr, RN, as The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses recipient.

The DAISY Award is awarded to nurses biannually at the hospital and is a part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize and thank nurses for the care and kindness they provide. Nominations are sent in by patients, families, and coworkers and compiled to award selected recipients.

“It is humbling to be chosen to be a Daisy Award winner. Compassion for others in their greatest time of need is a true blessing. Treating them how you would want your family or yourself treated. I love what I do for others, without expecting recognition,” said Barr.

Barr is a Registered Nurse working the nightshift at Mon Health Medical Center Intensive Care Unit. Barr has been at Mon Health for almost seven years, first as an LPN and now as an RN. Because of her acts of selflessness and commitment to go above and beyond for her patients, she was nominated and selected as a recipient for this award.

“It is always an honor to present one of our extraordinary nurses with a DAISY Award,” Dr. Krystal Atkinson, Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Nursing Officer of Mon Health Medical Center and Chief Nursing Executive of Mon Health System. “Janine is an excellent example of the selflessness demonstrated by our nurses on a daily basis, and we are proud of the outstanding care she provides to each of her patients.”

Nurses can be nominated by anyone who has been affected by their care – patients, family members, other nurses, physicians, other clinicians, and staff – anyone who has experienced or observed extraordinary, compassionate care being provided by a nurse. Say thank you to a nurse and nominate them for the DAISY Award by visiting MonHealth.com/DAISY. To learn more about the DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses, visit DAISYFoundation.org.
