Mon Health Offers Area’s Only Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chamber
Posted Date: 10/15/2024
Mon Health Wound Care has been providing Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) therapy in Morgantown for over 20 years. Recently, the Mon Health Wound Care clinic implemented a new HBO chamber that provides 100% oxygen under pressure to treat patients with various types of wounds.
HBO therapy is a means of providing additional oxygen to the tissues in the body. While breathing 100% oxygen at atmospheric pressures greater than sea level, more oxygen is dissolved in the blood and distributed throughout the entire body. This process aids in wound healing by increasing the ability of white blood cells to fight infection.
Mon Health Wound Care’s upgraded HBO therapy chamber treats patients with a range of chronic conditions, wounds, and infections including diabetic foot wounds, compromised skin grafts, soft tissue infections, chronic bone infections, delayed radiation injury, carbon monoxide poisoning, and more.
“We do our best to make our facility the premier multidisciplinary wound care clinic in North Central West Virginia and the surrounding areas,” said Dr. Ferdinand Martinez, Medical Director of Mon Health Vein and Wound Care. “We continue to invest in our people and equipment to make sure our community receives the best care."
By enhancing the body’s natural ability to fight infection and repair tissue, HBO therapy can help save patients from the devastating consequence of losing a limb, offering a lifeline to those facing advanced diabetic wounds and beyond.
