Posted Date: 11/6/2023
Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital’s Peer Recovery Coach, Zac Hoover, has been selected as a 2023 Beacon of Hope Award recipient for his impact in the lives of those supported by the hospital’s Peer Recovery Program.
The Beacon of Hope awards, introduced just this year and presented by Mosaic Group stands as a beacon of recognition and celebration of Peer Recovery Coaches. The award honors exceptional Peer Recovery Coaches within the Mosaic Group Reverse the Cycle national network, with remarkable qualities and unparalleled skills who undeniably impact the lives of those supported by the Reverse the Cycle/SBIRT program.
Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital, Mon Health Medical Center, and Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital provide support and services at the Emergency Room with a peer recovery program – Reverse the Cycle. All three hospitals have peer recovery coaches available for patients in the ER who screen positive for substance use.
In addition to providing recovery coaching services in the Emergency Room, Zac provides his services in the outpatient treatment program at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital.
“Zac is such a welcome addition to our team. You can see him just about anywhere, whether at the hospital or out in the community truly meeting people where they are,” said Jessica Myers, Case Manager for the Recovery Care Program. “Zac’s experience and personality combine to make him an important asset to our team and our community.”
On Thursday, October 26, staff gathered to celebrate Zac’s achievement and to present him with the Beacon of Hope Award.
“I am honored to win this award and continue to make a difference for those in this community,” said Zac. “I’m proud of the work this team does every day, and I know I couldn’t do it without their efforts as well.”
