Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital Highlights Volunteer Program

Posted Date: 2/12/2024
Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital’s volunteers support the efforts of the hospital and contribute to services in various positions to best fit the needs of patients and community. The volunteers also work hand in hand with the Theresa Snaith Hospital Auxiliary members to put on events and fundraisers.

On Valentines Day, the annual Sweet for the Sweetest event is held by the auxiliary and volunteer members to honor the hospital staff for their dedication to the hospital and community. Staff are provided with homemade treats and punch to enjoy throughout the day as part of the celebration.

Volunteering at the hospital is all about service and working with the hospital to enhance the health of the communities it serves. Volunteers are used to staying busy with events and other community-focused efforts throughout the year. In the past, the volunteers served meals at the annual employee Christmas Buffet, worked at the auxiliary’s bag sale fundraisers, and even purchased items for the hospital like blanket warmers and commemorative ornaments.

“Volunteering brings me joy as I help and meet new people. I especially enjoy my duties of working in the gift shop,” said Mary Wagoner, longtime auxiliary board member and treasurer. “I truly enjoy volunteering. Sometimes people just need someone to talk to, and the gift shop is an oasis from the fast pace of hospital work. It gives them a break from the worry when they just need to get away.”
