“Our community is in need of practitioners that can address these conditions, so I am very excited to expand the scope of my physical therapy care at this level,” said Jones. “Many common conditions can be treated through pelvic floor therapy, but not a lot of people are aware that this is a service physical therapists can provide.”
This type of therapy is being offered to female patients who are experiencing pelvic pain anywhere in the abdomen or pelvic girdle. This can also include those with conditions related to pregnancy and childbirth, pelvic organ prolapse, pain with intimacy, and urinary symptoms such as incontinence. The therapist can provide evaluation and treatment of associated orthopedic pain, including those with low back pain or tailbone pain.
Patients that schedule a pelvic therapy appointment can expect to receive specialized care that is customized to meet their specific pelvic floor needs. Patients may also learn techniques and exercises that promote long-term pelvic health and well-being.
