Mon Health System Celebrates Women’s Month

Mon Health System is celebrating April’s Women’s Month and recognizing the outstanding Women’s Healthcare Services across the health system.
Mon Health Medical Center is proud to offer advanced, nationally recognized gynecologic surgery in Morgantown. In 2023, Healthgrades awarded the hospital a 5-star rating for gynecologic procedures and the Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award. The hospital also received Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology from the Surgical Review Corporation.
Additionally, Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital expanded its gynecologic surgery to offer vNOTES in 2024, an advanced technique for hysterectomy and pelvic surgery performed vaginally is now available in Weston, West Virginia.
In 2024, Mon Health’s Progressing Through Postpartum (P3) Program, West Virginia’s first dedicated perinatal mental health program, expanded care from Morgantown to Weston. The P3 Program is an award-winning and nationally recognized program, recently being awarded the $50,000 Highmark Bright Blue Futures Award and the West Virginia Rural Health Association’s Excellence Award.
Through the P3 Program, mothers are screened before, during, and after pregnancy for any indication of anxiety, depression, or mood disorder. This allows for early detection and management of symptoms, giving the P3 team an opportunity to connect with mothers early on and provide continuous support throughout their pregnancy and postpartum journey.
Mon Health Obstetrics & Gynecology welcomed Crystal Nestor in August of 2023, who began seeing patients at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital, expanding access to women’s care in Kingwood, West Virginia, and was voted “Best OBGYN Clinic” in Morgantown Magazine’s 2024 Best of Morgantown contest.
Mon Health’s Women’s Imaging Center at Mon Health Medical Center is accredited by the American College of Radiology and Mammography, providing women with diagnostic testing and minimally invasive procedures in a comfortable environment. The services at the Women’s Imaging Center include digital mammography, 3D mammography, 3D breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and bone density exams. At all Mon Health System hospitals, patients receive their mammography screening results within 24 hours.
During Women’s Month, women of all ages are encouraged to schedule an appointment with their primary care provider. Additionally, women over 21 are recommended to be screened for cervical cancer and women aged 40 or older should schedule their annual mammogram to be screened for breast cancer.
