Mon Health System Hosts Heart of the Holidays Program to Support Employees & Their Families

Posted Date: 12/14/2023
In 2022, Mon Health System established the Heart of the Holidays program, created to assist employees who may be experiencing financial hardship during the holiday season.

For the Heart of the Holidays Program, families are nominated anonymously and matched with a sponsoring department at Mon Health System who provide clothing, toys, and food for each member of the family’s household.

“It is a principal value for Mon Health that we provide care for our caregivers. We have had employees experience personal hardships this past year, from house fires to losing a loved one to illness. Hearts of the Holidays is a small way that we can give back to those who every day, give so much to others,” said Katie Davison, Chief Human Resources Officer of Mon Health System.

Twenty-three Mon Health System families representing 95 individuals received gifts and food from their colleagues this year. The Heart of the Holidays Program is shared across Vandalia Health, with Charleston Area Medical Center participating in the program for more than 10 years.

“The Heart of the Holidays program is a testament to the family that is Vandalia Health,” said David Goldberg, President and CEO of Mon Health System and Executive Vice President of Vandalia Health. “Our people are our most important focus. We take care of our own. Our Colleague Support Fund and now this Heart of the Holidays program are here to support our Mon Family when in need. We learned about this program from CAMC Health System and is another positive benefit of our merged systems to create Vandalia Health. We are incredibly grateful that we were able to bring some holiday cheer to our colleagues who may have been struggling this season.”
