Mon Health’s 59th Annual Ball of the Year Raises over $500,000 for New Patient Family Stay Houses

Posted Date: 10/30/2023
On October 28, the Mon Health Medical Center Auxiliary held the 59th Annual Ball of the Year and raised more than $500,0000 to support the development of the Caring Cottages, a new patient family stay house on the Mon Health Medical Center campus.

The Caring Cottages will provide a home away from home for families of patients undergoing extensive treatments at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown. These stay houses will offer a warm and welcoming environment, allowing families to remain close to their loved ones throughout their medical journeys.

The Caring Cottages will be constructed by Omnis Building Technologies, a West Virginia-based manufacturer of energy-efficient, pre-engineered home building systems made up of Concrete Insulated Building Units (CIBU) that are shipped then assembled on-site to make pre-designed, move-in ready homes.

“The Caring Cottages are designed to alleviate additional burdens and provide assistance to the families of our patients during times of adversity, and it is through the donations made tonight that we can offer families supporting their loved ones’ care journey a home-like, nurturing place to stay,” said David Goldberg, President and CEO of Mon Health System and Executive Vice President of Vandalia Health. “We appreciate and thank our Auxiliary and Ball Committee for their dedication to put on the Ball year after year. We thank our presenting sponsor, Hope Gas, and all of our generous donors for their generosity that make it possible for us to deliver exceptional care and integrate patient and family-centric initiatives. At Mon Health, our mission is to enhance the health of the communities we serve, one person at a time, leading with compassion, empathy, and the highest quality care, and events like this allow us to go above and beyond.”

Ball attendees enjoyed an enchanting night complete with live entertainment, gourmet dining, and an exclusive auction featuring novelty items and one-of-a-kind experiences.

“The Ball is an amazing night for philanthropy and elegance,” said Chris Battin, Mon Health Medical Center Auxiliary Board President. “We are humbled by the generosity of our guests and look forward to seeing the impact that the donations will make in the lives of patients and families.”

The Ball of the Year, “Spellbound: A Magical Evening,” was sponsored by Hope Gas, a Distribution Company (LDC) that proudly provides gas service to more than 111,000 residential, industrial, and commercial customers in thirty-five West Virginia counties.

“We are honored to sponsor such a fantastic event that will benefit many people in the state,” Morgan O’Brien, President and CEO of Hope Gas, Inc. “We have always worked to better the communities we serve, and we are proud to partner with Mon Health System in impacting the lives of patients and their families.”
