New Technology at Mon General Hospital Improves Patient Care With Rapid Communication between Doctors and Radiologists
Posted Date: 5/10/2016
Mon General Hospital radiologists can now send images directly to physicians’ mobile devices, thanks to an upgrade in the hospital’s Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
The advanced communication capability brings faster treatment to patients by reducing the turn-around time between capturing the image and receiving the doctor’s diagnosis or treatment instructions.
“No matter where a doctor happens to be at any given time, we can now send images directly to his or her mobile device,” explained Mike DeMaske, Mon General’s Imaging Systems Administrator. “The doctor can then view the image and immediately respond with a diagnosis or treatment plan.”
The PACS upgrade includes talk-to-text software, allowing radiologists to dictate their notes which are sent to the doctors’ mobile devices along with the images.
Patients can be assured that their medical information is protected with advanced encryption capabilities. Encryption is inherent is the system itself, negating the need for doctors to use an app or proprietary electronic devices.
“It is a priority at Mon General to stay at the forefront of technological advancement. Our superior PACS solution is just one more manifestation of that commitment,” said Mon Health System President and CEO Darryl Duncan.
