Racers Run in Circles for Annual Groundhog Day 5K at SJMH

Posted Date: 2/4/2025

Thirty hearty individuals took to the track at Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital (SJMH) during the eighth annual Groundhog Day 5K race on Saturday, Feb. 1, despite the freezing weather.

Taking first place in the 5K race was Noah Copley, with a time of 20:48, followed by Kevin Kiser, with a time of 22:27, and in third place was Skyler Cole with a time of 23:26. Inspired by the movie, “Groundhog Day,” this unique 5K race mirrored the film's theme of repetition, as participants looped the track 16 times to complete the course.

The race was part of a six-race schedule planned by SJMH during the year. Up next is the annual Irish Spring Snake Run beginning at 12PM, Sunday, March 16, in Ireland. Participants can begin registering for that race on Feb. 7 at www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=375592.
