Second Cohort of Explorer Program Visits Mon Health Medical Center to Learn About Careers in Health Care

Posted Date: 2/3/2025

Participants in the second cohort of the Mon Health Explorer Program visited Vandalia Health’s Mon Health Medical Center to engage with representatives from the hospital’s Laboratory Services team. The visit provided an opportunity for aspiring health care professionals to gain hands-on experience and insight into careers in laboratory sciences.

“During their visit, our participants learned about the critical role laboratory professionals play in patient care at Mon Health Medical Center – from conducting diagnostic tests to ensuring accurate and timely results that guide medical decisions,” said Nate James, System Director, Employee & Workforce Engagement.

Designed for individuals aged 14-20 who are interested in exploring careers in health care, the Mon Health Explorer Program provides enriching experiences such as educational demonstrations, hands-on activities, and interactions with new health care technologies. By connecting with medical professionals, students can learn more about potential career paths within Mon Health System and beyond.

“We are proud to offer the Mon Health Explorer Program to inspire and educate the next generation of health care professionals,” said Katie Davison, Chief Human Resources Officer, Mon Health System. “This program provides young individuals with invaluable exposure to various health care careers and helps them make informed decisions about their future.”
