The DAISY Team Award, part of the internationally recognized DAISY Foundation program, acknowledges health care teams that work together to provide outstanding service and create a meaningful impact on patients and their families. The inaugural group award at Preston Memorial Hospital was presented to the hospital’s Oncology and Infusion teams, whose commitment to excellence and teamwork exemplifies the hospital’s mission to deliver quality, compassionate care.

Group members receiving the DAISY Team Award are Lacey Baker, RN; Amy Goodwin, RN; Olyvea Helmick, RN; Leslie Riley, RN; Abby Warnick, RN; Devon Napierkowski, FNP-C; Michael Craig, MD; Vincent Mullenax, RPH; Lorissa Simmons, MA; Jennifer Cunningham, PharmD; Ryan Hovatter, PharmD; and Zachary Metheny, PharmD.

"Our team epitomizes the true spirit of interdisciplinary collaboration. Each staff member consistently goes above and beyond, blending their unique expertise with unwavering compassion to provide a remarkable experience for our patients and their families," said Melissa Lockwood, Chief Administrative Officer of Preston Memorial Hospital. “Their dedication and teamwork are a testament to the values we uphold at Preston Memorial Hospital and Vandalia Health. We are incredibly proud to recognize each of them with our first DAISY Team Award."

"Over the past weeks of treatments, we have been very impressed with how caring these nurses have been with all of us in the family, yet being very professional with their many chores needed to care for my wife [Anna Casteel],” wrote family member Keith Casteel in a nomination letter.

A team can be nominated for the DAISY Award by anyone who has been affected by their care – patients, family members, other nurses, physicians, other clinicians and staff – anyone who has experienced or observed extraordinary, compassionate care.
