Fast and Friendly Care at Mon Health Marion Neighborhood Hospital | Laura’s Story

After feeling ill for nearly a week, Laura started experiencing serious stomach pain. Faced with dehydration and weakness, she knew she needed emergency treatment. She had previously brought her son to Mon Health Marion Neighborhood Hospital’s Emergency Room to be treated for an injury where they had a fast, pleasant experience. 

She checked the ER wait times on MonHealth.com and when she saw there was no wait, she knew that it was the best place to go. 

“I hadn’t been there for more than five minutes, and I had already been seen by three different people. They ran many tests, and were very knowledgeable and efficient. I had one nurse working on one side of me, and another on the other side. They were all so friendly and caring, making me feel very comforted,” said Laura.  

After receiving fast and friendly care, already feeling much better, Laura was waiting for her test results the next day. When the ER physician told her she was still sick, she was instructed to see her primary care physician, who ended up prescribing her the medicine she needed to get well. She is now back to 100% health. 

“The nurses had to perform some invasive procedures during my ER visit, and they were very understanding of my issues. I did not feel like a burden at all, but very cared for,” said Laura. 

Laura is originally from Centerville, Ohio and has been living in West Virginia for the past 20 years. She worked in Human Resources for many years and owns Shine Consulting, a leadership coaching company, where she trains companies with a focus on culture and team effectiveness. She also has her own podcast called Leadership Re-Discovered.
