A happy and healthy lifestyle is a priority at The Village at Heritage Point
Posted Date: 5/21/2013
The Village at Heritage Point, the area’s premier retirement community, has upgraded its fitness room with state-of-the-art equipment. Two new NuStep recumbent cross trainers offer the residents a low-impact, total body workout.
“They are easy to get on and off of and are easy to use,” said Elise Sullivan, Community Volunteer for The Village. “The residents really like them because they can exercise their arms and legs at the same time.”
Another popular addition is the Fluid Cycle, which uses water in a wheel as resistance. Residents exercise their arms or legs as they pedal against the water current.
For those residents who desire a more advanced workout, the Functional Trainer is a popular machine. The adjustable grip handles allow users to perform 20 different exercises from pull-ups to stretches. A commercial suspension elliptical trainer offers a full-body workout for cardio and toning.
Open Houses for the fitness room were hosted for Village residents during the week of May 5 so they could learn how to use the new equipment. Village resident Gay Kline remarked, “Exercise keeps me going. It is nice to have Elise here a couple days a week to give us guidance.”
The Village fitness facility also boasts a treadmill and an arm bicycle. Erika Capelle, Village resident, said, “I use the arm bike for 20-30 minutes every day. You can move it forward and backward and it uses different muscles. I am able to use it by myself with no assistance.”
Those living at The Village enjoy comfortable, spacious private homes in a welcoming neighborhood, a lifestyle of comfort and convenience and attentive services that enhance personal freedom. As an affiliate of Mon General Hospital, The Village offers residents the assurance of excellent health care nearby.
