WV Health Care Authority Approves Preston Memorial Hospital Joining Mon Health System; Two Steps Still Remaining Before Finalizing
Posted Date: 12/17/2013
The West Virginia Health Care Authority has granted the necessary Certificate of Need (CON) to allow Preston Memorial Hospital to join Mon Health System. This is the first of three steps that must occur before the partnership can be finalized. Both hospitals’ Boards of Directors must sign a “Definitive Agreement” followed by the closing of a construction loan for Preston Memorial’s new facility.
“We are very pleased that the Health Care Authority has approved our Certificate of Need,” said Glenn Adrian, Chairman of Mon Health System Board of Directors. “With this approval, we can now move to the signing of a Definitive Agreement and close on the construction loan.”
Adrian says he anticipates Definitive Agreement and construction loan to be approved in the very near future.
Back in September, Preston Memorial Hospital and Mon Health System announced the signing of a Letter of Intent and filed the CON with the Health Care Authority. The agreement includes the construction of an 83,500 square foot new Preston Memorial Hospital building that will provide 25 inpatient beds, a modern Emergency Department and state-of-the-art operating rooms, among other significant improvements. The new Preston Memorial building is being made possible with the assistance of Mon Health System, which has guaranteed the debt on the new facility.
Preston Memorial Hospital will join Mon General Hospital as a member hospital of Mon Health System.
